This policy explains what personal information First Look collects, why, and what rights you have under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020. First Look is operated from New Zealand by an individual (not yet a registered company).
We don't currently use tracking cookies, analytics, or advertising pixels on this site. If that changes, we'll update this policy first.
We use this information solely to run the scan you asked for, generate your report, and respond if you contact us. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't sell it.
To generate the audit, the page text you submit is sent to a third-party AI provider (currently Anthropic, based in the United States) for analysis. This means your submitted content is disclosed and processed outside New Zealand.
Under Information Privacy Principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020, we only do this where the overseas recipient is subject to privacy safeguards comparable to New Zealand's, or another exception applies. We choose reputable providers with their own data protection commitments. We only send the minimum content needed to generate your report; account or payment details never go to the AI provider.
If you scan a site without an account, the page content is processed transiently, in memory, to generate your report, and isn't stored afterward.
If you're signed in, your scan is saved to your account so it shows up in your report history. Account details and saved reports are kept for as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time by emailing us; see the contact details below.
We share information only with the service providers needed to run First Look: our AI provider (Anthropic), our hosting/infrastructure provider, our database provider, and Stripe for payment processing. Data is shared only to the extent needed to deliver the Service. We'll also share information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of First Look or others. We don't sell personal information.
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we handle, including sending data over encrypted connections. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so we can't promise information will never be accessed without authorization.
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. To make a request, email firstlookai.admin@gmail.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal information and we haven't resolved it, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
First Look is intended for business use by adults. It isn't directed at, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from, children.
If you run a scan on a website you don't own, the visible page content is processed the same way as above. We don't intentionally collect personal information about third parties beyond what's publicly visible on the page you submit. If you believe your website's content has been submitted to First Look and you'd like it addressed, contact us using the details below.
We may update this policy as the Service changes, particularly once real payments are introduced. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do.
